FUNCTION

Under direction of Physical Plant Director, responsible for overall maintenance of SAR’s landscaping, irrigation systems and general upkeep of grounds, walkways and gathering spaces of the campus. The campus includes the main campus and two off campus residences. In addition, assists the Physical Plant team with buildings, equipment and vehicle maintenance. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, non-exempt.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

Core Responsibilities

· Maintains the appearance and functionality of School grounds including fencing, walkways, outdoor landscaping such as, lawns, plant and flower beds, hardscaping such as walkways, retaining walls, and gathering spaces to ensure safe and attractive environment. Assist Physical Plant team as directed in general building and maintenance efforts.

· Plans and executes daily, weekly, and seasonal grounds maintenance (mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, fertilization, irrigation, pest/weed control, aeration, snow/ice removal), with the Physical Plant Director

· Develops and maintains preventative maintenance schedules for equipment, irrigation systems, and vehicles.

Groundskeeping Duties

· Creates multi-year improvement plans (renovations, sustainability projects, water-use reductions), with the Physical Plant Director and the Executive VP for Finance and Administration

· Enforces ADA accessibility for paths and public areas; maintains signage and barricades during work.

· Performs general maintenance and repair of all walkways, stairways and gathering spaces to ensure safety and are free of debris, snow, ice and other hazards.
