Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Landscaper/Groundskeeper & Facilities Technician to help maintain the beauty, safety, and functionality of our retirement community. This position is responsible for caring for the outdoor grounds while also assisting with minor indoor maintenance projects throughout the community. The primary responsibilities for Landscaping and Groundskeeping, however, to provide a full-time position, there will be times that responsibilies will need to be focused inside the various buildings.

Essential Responsibilities Grounds & Landscaping

• Maintain lawns and landscaped areas.
• Plant, water, weed, mulch, and prune flowers, shrubs, and trees.
• Maintain irrigation systems and report any issues.
• Remove leaves, branches, litter, and debris from sidewalks, parking lots, patios, and common areas.
• Keep walking paths and entrances clean, safe, and attractive.
• Assist with seasonal landscaping, flowers, decorations, and outdoor event setup.
• Perform snow and ice removal as needed.
• Safely operate landscaping equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hedge trimmers.

Light Maintenance

• Clean the various flooring throughout the campus.
• Replace light bulbs and ceiling tiles.
• Hang pictures, signs, bulletin boards, and other wall-mounted items.
• Perform minor painting and touch-up work.
• Assemble furniture and equipment.
• Replace air filters and assist with basic preventative maintenance.
• Tighten loose hardware, door handles, cabinet hinges, and furniture.
• Perform basic plumbing tasks such as replacing faucet aerators, unclogging drains, or changing toilet flappers.
• Assist with simple repairs throughout resident and common areas.
• Report maintenance issues requiring specialized repairs.
• Support the maintenance department with general projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous landscaping, groundskeeping, maintenance, or handyman experience preferred.
• Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment and basic hand and power tools.
• Basic knowledge of minor building maintenance, painting, and simple repairs.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with some specific tasks requiring a heavy lift capacity) and work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating with other departments.
• Friendly, respectful, and professional when interacting with residents and visitors.

Schedule

• Full-time
• Every other weekend required
• Occasional evenings or seasonal overtime may be required
