ADLA Studio

is seeking a skilled Landscape Designer + Estimator to join our Austin-based landscape architecture and design-build studio. This role is ideal for someone with 2+ years of professional experience who can confidently support design development, construction documentation, estimating, takeoffs, and project coordination.

We are looking for someone who is beyond entry level — a thoughtful, detail-oriented designer who understands how to move landscape projects from concept into clear drawings, organized scopes, and buildable plans. The right candidate should be comfortable working in a collaborative studio environment and coordinating with both design and construction teams.

Responsibilities

• Produce landscape design drawings, construction documents, planting plans, hardscape plans, and detail drawings
• Prepare takeoffs, quantities, and organized estimating information for design-build projects
• Assist with design development from schematic design through construction documentation
• Support revisions, redlines, and drawing updates with accuracy and efficiency
• Help translate design intent into clear, buildable plans and scopes of work
• Coordinate with the design team, construction team, vendors, consultants, and subcontractors
• Assist with client-facing presentations, plan sets, proposals, and project documentation
• Maintain organized project files, drawings, estimates, and production materials
• Contribute to high-quality residential and boutique commercial landscape projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture required
• 2+ years of professional experience in landscape architecture, landscape design, or design-build required
• Strong AutoCAD skills required
• Experience with SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or similar design software preferred
• Experience with estimating, takeoffs, construction pricing, or design-build coordination strongly preferred
• Ability to produce clean, accurate drawings with limited oversight
• Understanding of planting design, grading, hardscape materials, construction detailing, and landscape systems
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage production tasks, deadlines, revisions, and coordination across multiple projects
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style
• Interest in high-end residential landscapes, outdoor living, native/adapted planting, and construction implementation

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is both creative and practical. They enjoy design, but they also understand the importance of documentation, details, budgets, and construction coordination. They are comfortable taking direction, asking smart questions, working through redlines, and helping move projects forward with care and precision.

This is a good fit for someone who wants to grow within a collaborative design-build studio and be close to both the design process and the realities of construction.
