Landscape Technician

Position Overview

Sherman Library & Gardens is seeking two (2) Part-Time Landscape Technicians to support the daily care, maintenance, and presentation of our world-renowned botanical gardens and grounds. This position plays an important role in preserving the beauty, health, and visitor experience of the Gardens through a variety of horticultural, landscape, and groundskeeping responsibilities.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, enjoys working outdoors, and has a passion for horticulture, gardening, or landscape maintenance.

Schedule

• Part-Time Position
• Approximately 24 hours per week
• Scheduled to work four (4) six-hour shifts per week
• Schedule may vary based on operational needs and employee availability
• Weekend availability is required; employees must be available to work either Saturday or Sunday each week
• Additional hours may be available during special events, seasonal projects, or peak visitor periods

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The duties listed below are representative of the work performed by this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.

• Perform all aspects of turfgrass maintenance, including mowing, edging, trimming, blowing, and weed control in lawn and landscape areas.
• Maintain pathways, walkways, patios, and other hardscape surfaces through blowing, sweeping, weeding, and general upkeep.
• Remove leaves, debris, litter, and other materials from gardens, pathways, sidewalks, parking lots, and public spaces.
• Assist with routine horticultural and landscape maintenance activities, including planting, watering, pruning, mulching, fertilizing, and seasonal garden improvements.
• Operate and maintain landscape equipment and tools, including lawnmowers, edgers, string trimmers, blowers, tillers, chainsaws, and other equipment in a safe and effective manner.
