Downtown Ambassador & Groundskeeper

Position Summary

The Downtown Ambassador & Groundskeeper supports ODIDA’s Clean & Green Team with a focus on high-volume visitor areas, including the Old Market and 16th Street area. This position combines a visible, public-facing ambassador presence with hands-on public realm cleaning, litter removal, pet waste cleanup, sidewalk bed cleanup, appearance checks, and field support that helps keep Downtown clean, safe, active, and welcoming. The reduced schedule is designed to provide focused coverage during higher-volume days and times.

Key Responsibilities

*High-volume public realm cleaning and appearance*

• Collect and dispose of litter, debris , and other visible trash throughout assigned Downtown routes.
• Sweep, detail, spot clean, and maintain sidewalks, curbs, alleys, entrances, tree wells, planter areas, sidewalk beds, and other public-facing areas.
• Empty small receptacles or assist with trash-related needs as assigned.
• Remove or report minor graffiti, stickers, dumping, vandalism, damaged street furniture, or other appearance concerns.
• Assist with special cleanups, event-related maintenance, seasonal projects, and other field work that supports a clean and welcoming Downtown.

• Maintain a visible, approachable, and helpful presence in assigned high-volume visitor areas.
• When interacting with residents, businesses, property owners, visitors, unhoused neighbors, vendors, or partners, communicate in a calm, respectful, and helpful manner.
• Help create a positive Downtown experience by noticing appearance issues, answering basic questions when appropriate, and routing needs to the right ODIDA staff member.
• Route public questions, complaints, media inquiries, or sensitive concerns to the appropriate ODIDA staff member rather than making commitments or official statements.
