Irrigation technicians are responsible for the installation and maintenance of irrigation systems. The job requires regular physical labor outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Maintenance tasks performed by the irrigation technician includes replacing and repairing valves, installing controllers, locating existing irrigation zones and lines, repairing pumps, glueing pvc pipe and fittings, backflow testing and repair, and “winterizing” equipment to prevent freeze damage. The job often requires irrigation technicians to consult blueprints and diagrams to locate existing equipment and/or upon installation of new systems, as well as in the course of repairs on existing systems. Irrigation technicians are responsible for conducting irrigation sytems evaluations for efficency and performance. Ongoing customer service and consultative sales while maintaining the highest standards of customer service and safety. Good organizational and interpersonal skills are required.

Job Description

:

Irrigation technicians may also be responsible for providing services such as excavation, repairing line breaks, and filling trenches. When working, irrigation technicians use hand tools such as shovels, spades, rakes, and cutters, as well as larger tools and power tools. Customer service skills are necessary as you will interact with homeowners or persons responsiable for property and irrigation systems. Must have a valid driver’s license with clean record. State of Tennessee Backflow Certification will be needed within a reasonable amount of time. Backflow train class and testing provided.

• Candidates must be at least 18 years of age
• Lift, carry & load multiple items up to 50 lbs
• Drive service truck to each work site
• Read plans to install irrigation systems according to specifications.
• Visit sites and make recommendations about irrigation placement and type.
• Set irrigation timer controls and maintenance schedules.
• Install, inspect, maintain, diagnose and repair irrigation systems.
• Document work performed and equipment/supplies utilized.
• Write required notations on customer invoices
• Clean and service equipment daily

Qualifications

:

• Education: High School/G.E.D
• Previous relevant experience is helpful but not required for this position.
• Clean driver’s license
• Drug free work place (pass a drug screening)
