Grounds Maintenance Worker

General Definition of Work

The grounds maintenance worker, under general supervision, performs skill-based work with minimal decision-making discretion installing and maintaining landscape, pruning trees and shrubs, and ensuring cleanliness and safety of outdoor areas. Position operates grounds maintenance machinery, equipment, and tools. Employee performs district-wide work to carry-out Board of Education policies under the direction of the Maintenance Operations Supervisor.

Place of Work

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.

Essential Functions

* Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures * Maintain landscaped areas consisting of lawns, bushes, trees, flowers, shrubs, etc. through established practices and procedures * Perform duties such as planting, watering, mowing, weeding, trimming, renovating, fertilizing, and pruning * Inspect school grounds to remove debris such as leaves, rocks, or other debris that could become a safety hazard or detract from the appearance of the property * Transport rubbish to the local landfill * Assist in applying herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides safely * Maintain records of fertilizers and chemicals used as instructed * Assist in the preparation and maintenance of athletic fields and related facilities *...
