Job Summary

The Crew Lead – Grounds Maintenance & Landscaping is a senior field role responsible for leading a landscaping crew while actively performing mowing, soft landscaping, and shop duties. This position is ideal for a highly skilled technician who has demonstrated strong work performance, reliability, and the ability to guide others. The Crew Lead ensures daily work is completed efficiently, safely, and to company standards while supporting team development and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Crew Leadership & Supervision

· Lead and supervise a crew in daily mowing, soft landscaping, and maintenance tasks

· Assign duties, provide on-the-job training, and mentor crew members

· Ensure productivity, quality standards, and timelines are met

· Serve as the primary point of contact between crew members and management

· Promote a positive, professional, and safety-focused work environment

Mowing & Grounds Maintenance

· Perform and oversee mowing, edging, trimming, and blowing operations

· Operate commercial landscaping equipment safely and efficiently

· Inspect turf conditions and recommend corrective actions

· Ensure job sites are left clean and presentable

Soft Landscaping

· Lead planting, pruning, mulching, and bed maintenance activities

· Assist with seasonal landscaping projects and enhancements

· Ensure proper installation techniques and horticultural best practices

· Monitor plant health and coordinate necessary treatments

Shop & Equipment Oversight

· Oversee daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance

· Coordinate minor repairs and report mechanical issues

· Ensure tools, vehicles, and shop areas are clean, organized, and safe

· Assist with inventory tracking and material preparation for crews
