Position Overview

We are hiring a Lead Hardscape Installer / Equipment Operator to run landscape construction projects with a strong focus on skid steer and mini excavator (mini backhoe) operation and retaining wall construction.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly skilled on equipment and can efficiently lead a crew while handling grading, base prep, excavation, and material movement. You will be responsible for executing projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a crew of 2–4
• Operate skid steer and mini excavator daily for: Site prep and excavation. Rough and finish grading. Base preparation for pavers and retaining walls. Material handling and backfilling.
• Read and execute landscape/hardscape plans
• Perform site layout and elevation control (laser level, transit, string lines)
• Ensure proper compaction, drainage, and base construction
• Load/unload and transport equipment via truck and trailer
• Maintain production pace and jobsite organization
• Oversee final quality and project completion
• Required Qualifications 3+ years of hardscape installation experience
• Proven experience operating: Skid steer and Mini excavator / mini backhoe (advanced proficiency required)
• Experience installing: Retaining walls (block systems & Boulders) Paver patios, walkways, and driveways.
• Drainage and grading systems
• Ability to read plans and run projects independently
• Experience hauling equipment (truck + trailer + equipment)
• Valid Minnesota Driver’s License
• Ability to obtain DOT Medical Card
• Preferred Qualifications Class A CDL
