Position Overview

We are seeking a Landscape Designer with strong technical skills and a deep knowledge of California native plants. You will take projects from initial client consultation through design development and construction documents, working closely with our construction crews to ensure designs are built as intended. This is a hands-on role at a company where designers stay connected to the field.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Drafting

• Produce concept plans, design development drawings, and construction documents using AutoCAD and Land F/X
• Develop detailed planting plans with a strong emphasis on California native species
• Create irrigation plans, grading plans, and hardscape layouts to full construction document standards
• Prepare plant, hardscape, irrigation, and lighting schedules, details, and specifications for bidding and installation
• Maintain organized, accurate drawing sets and project files

Client Engagement

• Meet with clients to understand project goals, site conditions, and budget
• Present design concepts clearly and professionally, incorporating feedback through revisions
• Communicate design intent throughout construction to ensure quality outcomes

Native Plant Expertise

• Select California native plants suited to site conditions, climate zone, and client goals
• Demonstrate working knowledge of natives across plant communities—coastal sage scrub, chaparral, oak woodland, riparian, and grassland
