Groundskeeper / Mechanic I – Plant Operations

Uvalde Memorial Hospital is seeking a dependable and hardworking Groundskeeper / Mechanic I to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. This hands-on position is responsible for maintaining hospital buildings and grounds through routine repairs, preventive maintenance, landscaping, and general upkeep.

The ideal candidate enjoys working both indoors and outdoors, takes pride in maintaining attractive and functional facilities, and is eager to support the daily operations of our hospital. Responsibilities include performing minor repairs, assisting with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical maintenance, maintaining lawns and landscaping, operating groundskeeping equipment, and responding to maintenance and safety needs throughout the campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• General maintenance or groundskeeping experience preferred, but not required
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and building maintenance
• Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment and perform outdoor work in various weather conditions
• Strong work ethic, communication skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Ability to perform occasional heavy lifting and respond to maintenance needs as they arise
