Building and Grounds Maintenance Technician

Performs varied buildings and grounds maintenance activities, including primary physical maintenance at City owned facilities assigned by management, assists in facility build-outs, and serves as frequent back-up for cleaning services.

Job Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance functions at assigned facilities.
• Assists in facility build-outs construction projects.
• Performs backup cleaning services.
• Interacts with the public and City employees concerning buildings and grounds issues.
• Accompanies and monitors vendors working within assigned facilities.
• Assists supervisor and other City staff with projects.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Requires a High School diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of related work experience in building cleaning or maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses or Certifications

Requires a valid State of Georgia driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of basic maintenance functions and interior construction techniques.
• Skill in operating a vehicle.
• Ability to communicate with public, vendors, and staff.

Physical Demands

The work is medium work and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, and walking.
