*Salary Range:* $27.4844 - $31.8582/hour. Salary reflects Step 1 and Step 4 of a 7-step pay scale. Salary at hiring will be dependent on the applicant's education, experience, and training.

*Work Schedule:*Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

*Job Summary:*

Under direction of the Forester/Natural Resources Supervisor, the Arborist carries out the day to day operations of the Parks, Recreation, and Public Lands Department’s Urban Forestry Program. The Arborist performs skilled and technical tasks in the management of tree planting, tree health, pruning, after care, and removal primarily within City Parks. The Arborist works outside the majority of the year.

*Scope of Responsibility:*

Arborist will work closely under the supervision of the Forester/Natural Resources Supervisor and assist in the supervision of seasonal employees and volunteers. Incumbent is responsible for having a strong degree of knowledge of up-to-date Arboricultural practices. Arborist should have a moderate degree of understanding of department and functional operations. Arborist should be able to work independently and take initiative in performing tasks. Daily Operations

• Responsible for the care, maintenance, and removal of trees and other vegetation on city property in accordance with ISA standards & Arboricultural Best Management Practices.
• Operate a variety of equipment and tools including aerial lift truck, chipper, stump cutter grinder chainsaw, , mini excavator, front end loader, skid steer, tree spade, and hand tools.
