Position Summary

The Trainee Irrigation Technician assists with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial irrigation systems. Under the guidance of experienced team members, the trainee will learn to diagnose irrigation issues, perform system start-ups and winterizations, and ensure plant material receives the proper amount of water.

This position is designed as a development role, and the employee will be trained to become a fully independent, stand-alone Irrigation Technician over time.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in servicing, repairing, and troubleshooting residential and commercial irrigation systems.
• Learn the proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment used in the irrigation industry.
• Assist with irrigation system start-ups, adjustments, and winterizations.
• Help inspect irrigation systems to identify leaks, damaged components, or performance issues.
• Assist with the installation, repair, and replacement of valves, timers, solenoids, main lines, lateral lines, and sleeves.
• Learn to read irrigation plans and blueprints to understand head placement, zones, and system layouts.
• Work effectively as part of a team while developing the ability to perform tasks independently.
• Meet and communicate professionally with clients on job sites.
• Develop a basic understanding of irrigation technology and controller systems.
