Irrigation Technician

Position Overview

The Irrigation Technician is responsible for ensuring all crops and plant material receives consistent, accurate, and timely water and nutrient delivery. This role supports overall plant health by operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting irrigation systems, coordinating watering needs with production teams, and performing hands‑on tasks in warm, fast‑paced greenhouse or field environments. The position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to plant care.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily Watering & Plant Care — Monitor moisture levels, water plants according to crop requirements, and report any signs of stress, disease, or nutrient deficiency.
• Irrigation System Maintenance — Inspect, repair, and replace irrigation lines, emitters, valves, and related components to ensure optimal system performance.
• Irrigation Scheduling Software — Operate and adjust digital irrigation scheduling systems to align with crop needs, environmental conditions, and production timelines.
• Production Coordination — Communicate with production managers to understand watering priorities, crop stages, and special irrigation requirements.
• Fertigation Support — Assist in preparing and delivering nutrient solutions through irrigation systems, ensuring accurate mixing, dosing, and application.
• Filter & Equipment Cleaning — Regularly clean irrigation filters, screens, and pump components to prevent clogs and maintain consistent water flow.
• Environmental & Physical Requirements — Work safely and efficiently in warm environments, greenhouses, and outdoor fields for extended periods.
• Recordkeeping — Maintain logs of watering schedules, system repairs, fertigation applications, and plant health observations.
• General Support — Assist with other operational tasks as needed to support overall production goals.
