Irrigation Technician

Overview

An Irrigation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of water-delivery systems for landscapes and residential homes. This role involves working with a variety of components, such as pipes, sprinkler heads, and control systems, to ensure efficient water distribution. • Conduct diagnostic checks on irrigation systems to identify and repair issues with components like pipes, sprinkler heads, and valves.
• Program and adjust electronic irrigation controllers based on seasonal weather patterns, soil types, and specific landscape requirements to ensure efficient water use.
• Read and interpret landscape blueprints and irrigation design plans to ensure accurate installation and placement of new systems.
• Operate trenching and excavation equipment to lay pipes and install system components for new irrigation setups.
• Perform seasonal maintenance, including system startups in the spring and winterization procedures to prevent freezing damage in colder months.
• Maintain detailed records of services performed, materials used, and site-specific system settings for accurate client billing and history.
• Communicate with clients to explain system functions, provide operational instructions, and recommend upgrades or water conservation strategies.
• Manage inventory of parts and equipment on a service vehicle to ensure availability for on-site repairs and installations
