The Grounds Worker plays a vital role in keeping that environment safe, welcoming, and well-cared-for year-round.

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Grounds Worker is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of campus exterior spaces, performing a variety of groundskeeping and minor restoration duties, and supporting the overall upkeep of our facilities. Grounds Workers are designated Essential Employees and are required to report to work during weather-related and emergency school closures.

Responsibilities

• Receive and carry out daily assignments to maintain grounds, paths, and roadways in accordance with weather conditions and the facilities maintenance schedule
• Keep campus exterior spaces free from litter and debris
• Clear roadways and walkways of ice and snow as needed
• Mow grass, trim bushes, and operate grounds equipment (lawn mowers, tractors, cutters, and related machinery) to keep the campus neat and uniform
• Perform routine maintenance on all garden and grounds equipment
• Prepare soil, manage plantings, and remove weeds during appropriate seasons
• Collect and transport campus garbage to containers for Sanitation Department pickup
• Assist with classroom setup and furniture moving as needed
• Report any observed safety hazards to a supervisor promptly
• Participate in training and professional development activities
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by a supervisor
