Groundskeeper/Laborer

Position Summary

Responsible for the upkeep of the hospital and clinics by ensuring the cleanliness, appearance, and condition of landscaping items and features.

Scope of Work

The position is located at TON Health Care. The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor or Facility Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

*(Depending on the area of assignment, an incumbent may not be required to perform some of the duties listed below):*

• Maintains landscaping by trimming and pruning trees and shrubs, repairing fences, sweeping sidewalks, repairing irrigation systems, controlling weeds, watering, and cutting lawns.
• Prepare soil and plants, trees, and vegetation.
• Perform clean-up duties of entire premises on a routine basis.
• Perform functions such as transplanting, essential pest control, pruning and trimming, and other landscaping duties.
• Maintains, repairs, and operates irrigation/sprinkler systems.
• Relines rocks on walking trails.
• Operates and maintains various heavy equipment and power/hand tools such as backhoe, tractor, lawnmower, weed trimmer, rakes, and other landscaping tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Ensures the grounds and landscaping is safe for employees, patients, and visitors; and removes any hazardous obstacles.
• Sprays lawns, shrubs, and trees with fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides.
• Cleans and removes materials and debris from work areas.
• Check water softener in Housekeeping and levels of propane at the hospital. Notifies supervisor when running low.
• Assists with maintenance projects.
• Sets up and tears down meeting facilities according to program requests and directives.
