General Statement of Duties

Performs responsible maintenance and upkeep of the grounds and facilities at all Parks and Recreation facilities.

Distinguishing Features of the Class

An employee in this class is responsible for maintaining property, buildings, and grounds. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.

Illustrative Examples of Work

• May open and close the park and facilities.
• Maintains cleanliness of grounds and facilities, including restrooms; supplies facilities with paper products.
• Maintains landscaping, shrubs and trees.
• Builds, places, repairs, and secures signs for the park.
• Maintains trails, walking paths and grassy areas.
• Assists the general public with regard to questions and monitors the general safety of park visitors.
• Maintains supply of educational materials for park visitors.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational support functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
• Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
