Job Description

Position Overview

The Groundskeeper will be responsible for performing routine labor involved in golf course maintenance and Morton Golf properties maintenance. The groundskeeper’s responsibilities include doing semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operating small hand-powered equipment; and occasionally performing work involving large equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Set tee markers and cups on greens daily; maintain ball washers; replace tee towels and flags when needed; remove debris; sand and seed tee and drop area divots; and clean flower beds.
May be asked to operate mowers and string trimmers for trimming greens, aprons, tees, around trees, fence lines, banks, and hillsides; edge cart paths; maintain sand bunkers.
Maintain fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment, report equipment problems or failure to the equipment mechanic immediately.
Return all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and clean the maintenance areas.
Water and fertilize tees, greens and fairways, and under direct supervision of a certified applicator, spray chemicals on landscaped areas.
Help in project work; assist in the construction of new greens, tees and fairways; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; and seeds tees, greens and fairways.
Install forms and lay walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes; excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools; repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems.
Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications

Experience

o Must have some landscaping or golf course maintenance experience.

Education

o High School Graduate recommended but not required.

Specialized knowledge

o Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.

o Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.

Flexibility to work outside exposed to weather conditions.
Flexibility to work M – F + weekends as needed.
