Job Description
Basic Function
This position exists to keep Dayton History properties, buildings and grounds clean, safe and in good repair at all times for guests and employees.
General Responsibilities
- General grounds-keeping.
- General building maintenance.
- Trash pickup and removal.
- Un-arm and re-arm security alarms in Carillon Historical Park buildings at beginning and end of each day.
Position Responsibilities
- Mow, trim, blow walks, landscape, and remove leaves (spring / summer / fall).
- Remove snow, salt walks and maintain safe winter grounds conditions.
- Prep, paint, repair buildings and perform general maintenance on all Dayton History sites.
- Move heavy pieces and relocate artifacts and collection pieces.
- Maintain equipment in good working condition: lawn and landscape equipment, vehicles and carousel.
Line of Communication and Accountability
This position reports to the Facilities Director.
Qualification Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One to three years’ relevant experience preferred, but not required
- Knowledge of and ability to use specific equipment: lawn mowing/blowing equipment, plowing tractors, and general building maintenance equipment.
Physical Requirements of the Job
- Ability to stay active throughout the day.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds.
