ARBORIST / PLANT HEALTH CARE SPECIALIST

Overview

Burkholder Plant Health Care is looking for an experienced Arborist/Plant Health Care Specialist to help maintain the health of plants, trees, and shrubs on our clients’ properties. Customer service is central to the position, as well as landscape plant identification, insect and disease pest diagnosis, and problem solving. The ideal candidate can handle independent field work with self-motivation, attention to detail, and conceptual thinking.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

• Perform all functions of the integrated pest management program, including administration, scheduling, inspections, sampling, treatments, inventories, equipment maintenance, record keeping, report writing, and customer relations.
• Perform fertilization and integrated pest management on trees, shrubs, and lawns using spray and injection tools.
• Assist the Plant Health Care Manager with daily functions within the department, as needed.
• Communicate with clients to understand their landscape plant problems and explain how we can help treat their plants.
• Assist customers with a range of horticulture decisions.
• Monitor, diagnose, and treat insect, disease, cultural, and physiological conditions of trees and shrubs.
• Maintain treatment records and client service reports.

Requirements

• 2+ years’ experience in a related field with plant health care, OR a related degree.
• Understanding of species-specific insect, disease, and cultural management practices.
• Interest in working outdoors year-round, performing mental and physical work in all weather conditions.
