Substitute Short Term Grounds Maintenance Technician may be called short notice (same day) to fill in any shifts at any YCCD work-site, including MJC-East and MJC-West.

Appointments are hired at the first step of the range. The second step is paid after the first year of satisfactory service with subsequent steps annually thereafter to a maximum sixth step.

Position Summary Information Job Description DEFINITION Under general supervision, performs a wide range of grounds maintenance and related duties including mowing, sweeping, trenching, planting, weeding, irrigating, and pruning; installs and maintains irrigation systems; applies herbicides and pesticides; operates a variety of light and heavy-duty grounds maintenance equipment; and performs related work as assigned.DISTINGUISHINGCHARACTERISTICS This is the full working level class of the Grounds Maintenance Series within the Yosemite Community College District (YCCD). Incumbents in this class perform journey-level grounds maintenance, gardening and related duties in order to ensure that landscaped and naturalized areas are both attractive and functional. Grounds keeping duties emphasize mowing and edging large lawn areas, maintaining athletic fields, weeding planted areas, pruning trees and shrubs, maintaining sprinkler systems, spraying herbicides and pesticides, and supporting athletic events.
