Why does the job exist?

This position serves to perform all aspects of landscaping and grounds keeping for a 26-acre campus and also janitorial services in at least 6 buildings and on occasion perform routine minor duties elsewhere in the district.

How does it get done?

By utilizing hand and power tools or compact equipment. Perform general maintenance on equipment and power/hand tools. Rake and pick up debris from the landscaping. Watering trees, shrubs and plantings. Spraying herbicide to control weeds. Performing general janitorial duties. Ordering janitorial/cleaning supplies. Assembling and moving of office furniture.

Minimum Qualification

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver¿s License. Business reference check and Driver¿s License verification are also required, and employment is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in the field in varying weather conditions - hot or cold, humidity, wind, rain and snow, exposure to sunlight, dust, pollen, chemicals, rough/rugged terrain, insects and reptiles, noxious plants and infected trash; must be able to work safely with dirt, soils, fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides and pesticides; must be able to work in noisy conditions and around power tools and equipment; exposure to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, toxic fumes/chemicals and/or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals and/or asphalt and petroleum products; subject to falls and bruises, considerable physical strain; hand dexterity required for some duties; numerous specific vision abilities to include: close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perce...
