Irrigation Technician

Summary

The Irrigation Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing various irrigation systems.

Job Responsibilities

• Repair irrigation leaks including drip tube, valves, lateral lines, mainline, and drains.
• Repair/Replace irrigation valves.
• Install and adjust irrigation timers.
• Conducts regular system inspections and perform routine troubleshooting or irrigation systems.
• Use hand tools such as shovel, pickaxe, rakes, pipe cutters.
• Remove and replace plant material including ground cover, plants, shrubs and trees as needed to repair irrigation problems.
• Communicate effectively with American Landscape Superintendent and customers as needed.
• Ensure work vehicle has proper tools and materials necessary to execute all work projects.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of irrigation systems including valves, sprinkler heads, drip systems, backflows, and master valves.
• Knowledge of various irrigation timers.
• Efficient at reading and understanding blueprints and color coded irrigation charts.
• Ability to repair valves, lateral lines, drip tube, and main line.
• Ability to remove and plant multiple varieties of ground cover, shrubs, plants, and trees.
• Ability to effectively communicate present information and respond to questions, both verbal and written.
• Ability to organize, multi-task, plan and set priorities with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to exercise good judgment with a strong attention to detail
• Must be a licensed driver in the state of California
• Bilingual speech is highly encouraged.

Physical Demands

• Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to frequently move supplies of up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift weight consisting of 75 pounds.

Work Environment

• Working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Interaction with staff and customers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
