Groundskeeper I

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Groundskeeper I provides manual labor functions for the Parks Department and works collaboratively with all other staff to perform department operations and ensure that they meet the principles and objectives of the City of Rogers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Performs maintenance and repair tasks necessary to provide safe parks facilities for the public. Many of the tasks performed are of a skilled nature such as lawn mower and weed eater operation, and turf care.

2. Performs routine cleaning of parks spaces including restrooms, trash/debris removal, brush and tree removal, and trail cleaning.

3. Prepares sports fields and properties for competition, including open and closing procedures.

4. Promotes positive public image to citizens through excellent customer service.

5. Performs other duties as assigned by the Parks Superintendent or Department Director.

6. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines. Equivalent to four years high school or GED, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others, plus 7 to 11 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
