May require independent judgment in the disposition of routine matters without direct supervision. Will work under the direct supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Superintendent (will also act as a lead person in their absence).ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides support for the department. In addition to other duties as assigned, will perform the operation of power and hand tools and all vehicular apparatus used in landscape maintenance. Work is reviewed through inspection for conformance with instructions and established standards.EXAMPLES OF WORK (Illustrative Only)* Performs daily care to landscaping and grounds to ensure they are well kept, manicured and attractive. * Performs disease and pest control applications as required. * Performs seeding and fertilizing operations to lawns as required. * Performs grass mowing priorities and schedules. * Performs the planting and pruning of trees, shrubs and flowers. * Operates various types of equipment including mowers, tractors, weed-eaters, edgers, aerators, leaf vacuums, hedge trimmers, sprayers, chainsaws, etc. * Operates heavy equipment for various functions, i.e., truck, trencher, backhoe, front end loader, brush hog....
